That’s Gold

5 April 2011

We all love the ease of use of ATM’S, but we’ve never experienced the sort of machines they have in the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East.

Our modest ‘handibanks’ only dispense good old cash, but one of the ATM’s situated in an Abu Dhabi hotel spits out gold.

Customers using the machine can receive one-gram, five-gram and 10-gram bars of gold as well as authentic gold coins.

And just for a little bit more of the Midas touch, the machine itself is gold plated.

Hotel general manager Hans Olbertz says the machine was installed so the establishment could give its customers “the golden service”.

This has to be one situation where cash is not king.
