Friday marked the end of the busiest week for earnings with over a hundred companies within the S&P/ASX 200 having now posted results. Overall, company reporting season has delivered enough good news, or lack of extremely bad news, to offset the impact to confidence during the week by data that showed real wages, accounting for inflation, went backwards last year and Chinese manufacturing PMI which continued to decline in February. Yesterday marked the busiest day of the reporting season with over 20 companies within the S&P/ASX 200 posting results, taking us beyond the halfway point. We’ve now seen over 57% of companies within the benchmark index report results with earnings on the whole continuing to come in slightly ahead of expectations.
